Hands on The World Green Community Hub

Fievie is a Hands on The World Green Community Hub. The school in the village has been chosen to become a model hub of teaching sustainable methods of food and water security. We are very happy to be working on this with Rachael Poulson, founder of Hands On The World Global.

This is a very important step forward in providing a source of clean drinking water to the village. Up to now the villagers of Fievie have taken their water for cooking and drinking and washing from a pond shared with cattle; the cattle urinate and defacate in the pond, causing life threatening conditions.

Fievie has not been able to get support for a new water supply from the local assembly nor the govenrment of Ghana nor the charitable work by Rotary International and other charitable organisations because it has not fallen into the correct catchment area.

We need to raise US $10,000 to implement a Rainwater Harvesting scheme from the school roof. If you can help us please contact us.

There are two films, one a general interview with the Chief of Fievie, and one a song about the situation regarding the water:

Clean Drinking Water

We have a project to help the village of Fievie to get cleaner drinking water for their community.

Currently they get water for drinking, washing and cooking from a pond which is also used by cattle.

The cattle urinate and defacate in the water.

This pond water contains parasites which pass through the skin of children fetching water and can kill them.

Also, the water cant be collected when the cattle are in the pond.

We need to raise money to build a pond just to be used by the community for providing cleaner water. In the longer term we want to create filter systems and water harvesting from the school roof.

If you can make a contribution, please contact robin@writelaugh.co.uk . Robin is the international director for Kids Foundation Inc.
